ARMSTRONG LAUNCHES STEAMSTAR™ - WEB BASED STEAM TRAP MEASUREMENT PLATFORM
Three Rivers, Mich. - Armstrong International, Inc., a world leader in intelligent system solutions for steam, air and hot water utility applications, announces the launch of SteamStar™, the first Web based steam trap measurement platform.
“SteamStar allows users to track, measure and manage their steam trap population 24/7 via the Internet to achieve optimal performance and capture significant energy savings,” said Chris Gibbs, account manager for Armstrong International. It is an ideal solution for steam intensive users such as refining and petroleum manufacturers, food processors and chemical manufacturers who want to develop a best practice process that will enhance their production capabilities, reduce labor costs and plant downtime, along with reducing their overall energy costs.
SteamStar works by displaying steam trap information on a web site that collects data from manual steam trap surveys, hand-held diagnostic tools or through steam traps equipped with wireless transmitters. SteamStar then analyzes the data and provides the user with real time reports of steam trap failure and other performance measurements using a steam loss formula approved by the United Nations Technical Committee. Unlike traditional spreadsheet programs, which can only be accessed from a single user via their computer desktop, SteamStar’s web enabled platform enables sharing with multiple users within a customer’s information technology network without the need for expensive software licensing fees.
“Users can log on from anywhere in their company’s network through a password protected interface and monitor the performance of their steam traps from an individual site or a host of different global sites,” Gibbs said. SteamStar is a valuable tool that allows plant managers and maintenance supervisors to diagnose and fix problems early on a defined return on investment basis, before major losses occur. SteamStar also enables corporate energy managers to benchmark all of their sites and direct initiatives across the company that will help achieve energy savings and best practice energy management goals.
